The UCM Missions & Benevolence (M&B) Ministry is undertaking a Special Outreach Program consisting of 3 components which focus on working with the poor and the marginalized. The program’s intention is to provide avenues to improve the quality of life.

The Livelihood Project

The principle behind this initiative is “teaching men to fish”. This is realized through partnership with Christian organizations with a track record in providing livelihood to the poor and the marginalized.

The types of livelihood projects undertaken to-date together with existing M&B ministry partners include the following:

Macro-Economic Activities

These are designed to strengthen families living in ultra-poverty. We provide them seed capital and training towards macro-economic activities such as cooking and selling food items.

For sustainability, the participants are trained on Christian values, health, and the discipline of savings. These projects are on-going in selected communities in Sarangani, Maguindanao, Sultan Kudarat, South Cotabato, Zamboanga del Norte, and Palawan. These livelihood initiatives are managed by the International Care Ministry.

This was done in selected farming areas in Negros Oriental, Bukidnon, Lanao del Sur, North Cotabato, and Zamboanga del Sur to supplement the income of farmers and provide a source of projected expenses like tuition fees. Participants attend Bible study conducted by Arise Christian Ministry, UCM’s partner on the ground.
