Nominations

THE UCM NOMINATIONS COMMITTEE

The primary role of the Nominations Committee is to make recommendations to Council and the church, new members to replace the outgoing Council members, as well as outgoing Nomination Committee members.

THE NOMINATIONS PROCESS

Each year, the Nominations Committee is tasked with the responsibility of recommending to Council new members who will replace the outgoing Council members. If the names that are recommended to Council are approved, they are then presented at the Annual Members’ Meeting for approval by the congregation. Further, the committee is tasked with the responsibility of presenting two names to the congregation who will fill the two seats that are being vacated on the Nominations Committee each year.

All those from within the UCM congregation are encouraged to provide the committee with names from within the congregation who they feel would serve well as leaders of the church. The submitted names for potential church leadership will be presented to the congregation.
At the Annual Members’ Meeting, voting is held to approve the slate of nominees as presented to the church body by the Council and the Nominations Committee. This vote includes all the new Council members and the two individuals being recommended for the Nominations Committee each year.
