Rev. Steve Ruetschle
Steve was born and raised in a loving home in Dayton, Ohio. He has three passions that run throughout his life’s story: passion for the arts, for people, and most importantly, passion for Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts diploma from the School of Visual Arts in New York; a Masters in Spiritual Nurture from the Western Seminary in Seattle, Washington; and a Master of Divinity from Mars Hill Graduate School in Bothell, Washington.
His talents as an artist encompass oil painting, installation art, composition and performance of music, and children’s book writing and illustration. He has put to good use his predilection for art in his various ministries in the United States.
Before joining UCM as Senior Pastor, he served on staff at Antioch Bible Church, First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue, and was ordained and served as a pastor with University Presbyterian Church, located in Washington state.
He is married to Michelle Louise Ruetschle and they are blessed with three children.
In 2010, Steve survived a near fatal motorcycle accident that had severely damaged his two upper spinal vertebra. His medical doctors were of the opinion that he would never walk again. Through his perseverance and unwavering faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, he is now with us today, serving, walking, and performing his duties as our Senior Pastor. Visit his blog to read more about his story.
His life story is a living testament to the greatness of our Lord Jesus Christ, and how He continues to provide miracles for all of us, however big or small.
